Help on setting up working calendar

Postby baked » Wed Sep 30, 2009 12:44 pm

Hi Chris, great script. I have installed it but don't know how to creat a display only version. That is how to disable the update facility.

Also would like to have dropdown list of id_items on admin page like your demo. How can I do this?

Regards

Hi there and welcome.

Take a look at this thread for the public version:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=24

And this thread (though there are others) for the dropdown list:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=30
Basically all you need to do is something like this:
Code: Select all
<select name="id_item">
<option value="1">Property 1</option>
<option value="2">Property 2</option>
<option value="3">Property 3</option>
etc.
</select>

Hope those threads help you out :)

Thanks Chris,
That all work as you suggested and I am enjoying working with your script. It is very well commented.

I have now got a couple of further problems I hope you can help with.

I have setup a copy of the index page with $booked_days set to 0 and saved this as display.php.

When I call this with a ID_item value i.e display.php?id_item=1 for example, it displays the calendar for property 1. but when I then change the no of months the page is refreshed but looses the id_item and displays the wrong calendar.
How can I make the page keep the correct id_item value?

My second problem is that I have set up the calendar in a password protected folder (using htaccess) but need to allow access to display.php by any one. So I moved display.php to an unprotected folder outside the calendar folder. I corrected all the path names for the includes etc but can't get it to work.
There must be a few path names I have missed but I can't find them! Can you help?

Many Thanks

Hi again, sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I have been away for a few days for a much needed break.
When I call this with a ID_item value i.e display.php?id_item=1 for example, it displays the calendar for property 1. but when I then change the no of months the page is refreshed but looses the id_item and displays the wrong calendar.
How can I make the page keep the correct id_item value?

This should not happen if you have the select list for your property types within the same form as the select list for the number of months as the "id_item" should also be passed when the months is changed.

Can you post (or pm) me an url so I can see what might be the problem, and, at the same time, take a look at your second problem which, as you suggest, is probably a path problem.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for you offer of further help, but I managed to solve the problems myself.

All I need to do now is wait for the client to accept my quote. Hopefully with your help they will like the demo calendar part.

If I get the business there will be a donation coming your way.

Thanks for all your help.

P.S. Version 3 sounds even more useful. How far away is the release?

Hi Chris,

Client responded very positively. I tried to set up calendar on their server but can't get it to work!!

here is the link

http://194.154.163.165/highlancom/calendar/

when I click on a date to change its status it gets locked up. Seems as if ajax is not functioning correctly.

Server runs php V 5.2.9.1

Any ideas? I need to get this running by the weekend as I go on holiday then.

Hope you can help again.

Regards

ALan

P.S. Thanks for the link

Hi there,
This appears to be not working because it can't find the ajax file.

http://194.154.163.165/highlancom/calen ... l.ajax.php

Check your paths (the path to the ajax file is defined in the javascript file) and check that you have uploaded update_cal.ajax.php file.
